For devices that use Alexa, OK Google, Siri, etc., with voice recognition and always-on microphones, the risk to privacy and the potential for abuse (intentional or not) outweighs the benefits.

  • I do tend to have always-on microphone services turned off, although it's at least as much that I'm unconvinced of the benefits as it is that I'm worried about privacy concerns.

  • Subjectively I find this very easy to agree with because i don't find many benefits to voice interfaces beyond searching on TV boxes.
